Multi-analyte Luminex Services

Creative Biolabs offers Luminex Multiplex Assay Development & Testing Services that are based on Luminex’s xMAP Technology. Using the Luminex(R) bead-based technology, multiplex assays can be performed for quantitation and detection of soluble proteins and intracellular pathway markers. These assays allow simultaneous measurement of multiple targets in each sample, with superior performance and reproducible results lot after lot.

Luminex xMap is built on proven, existing technology—flow cytometry, microspheres, lasers, digital signal processing and traditional chemistry—that have been combined in a unique way. Featuring a flexible, open-architecture design, xMAP technology can be configured to perform a wide variety of bioassays quickly, cost-effectively and accurately.

Luminex color-codes tiny beads, called microspheres, into 100 distinct sets. Each bead set can be coated with a reagent specific to a particular bioassay, allowing the capture and detection of specific analytes from a sample. Within the Luminex compact analyzer, lasers excite the internal dyes that identify each microsphere particle, and also any reporter dye captured during the assay. A large number of readings are made on each bead set, further validating the results. In this way, xMAP technology allows multiplexing of up to 100 unique assays within a single sample, both rapidly and precisely.

When compared to other methodologies used for antibody screening (i.e. ELISA and Flow cytometry), the sensitivity of Luminex is comparable to that of flow cytometry. However, with its multiplex assay capacity that simultaneously measures multiple analytes in a single assay, its reduction in cost and reproducibility are matchless.
