Horse is an odd-toed ungulate mammal species belonging to the family Equidae. Notably, there are exactly 11 immunoglobulin isotypes in horse serum: IgM, IgD, IgA, IgE, and seven IgG subclasses, termed IgG₁-IgG₇ based on different variants of IgG heavy chain constant region, which is typically the highest number of IgG genotypes among all mammalian species to date. As the predominant antibody in serum, all these seven IgG isotypes have been proved to express in vivo and play significant roles in immune responses against various antigens. Yet each of them has different responsibilities. IgG₄, IgG₇ and possibly IgG₁ are protective against intracellular infections, while IgG₃ and IgG₅ are responsible for extracellular pathogens and acute infections. The varied effector functions of seven IgGs might imply great potential in vaccine design. Recently, growing interest has emerged focusing on the horse antibodies for biomedical, diagnostic, and research applications.

Creative Biolabs has successfully built up a novel Native™ Antibody Discovery Platform after years of experience and devotion. Based on the antigen-specific B lymphocytes cytometry technology, this platform is able to isolate the entire pool of antibody candidates with native paired heavy- and light-chains, from which monoclonal antibodies targeting specific antigen can be generated by high-throughput screening.
