  • Overview
  • CD49d is the integrin alpha subunit. It constitutes half of the homing receptors of α4β1 lymphocytes.The product of this gene belongs to the integrin alpha chain protein family. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of alpha and beta chains. This gene encodes the α4 chain. Unlike other integrin α chains, α4 contains neither an I domain nor undergoes disulfide bond cleavage. The Alpha 4 chain is associated with the beta 1 chain or beta 7 chain.
