IL2RA

Interleukin 2 receptor subunit alpha (IL2RA), also known as p55, CD25, IL2R, IMD41, TCGFR, IDDM10, or IL-2 R alpha, is a type I transmembrane protein present on activated T cells, activated B cells, some thymocytes, myeloid precursors, and oligodendrocytes. The expression of this protein is also found in several tumors, such as acute nonlymphocytic leukemias, B-cell neoplasms, neuroblastomas, mastocytosis and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes. The IL2RA protein can associate with IL-2 R beta chain (IL2RB) and the common gamma chain (IL2RG) to form a high affinity heterotrimeric IL2 receptor complex, and IL-2 bind either to this heterotrimeric receptor, or to the intermediate affinity receptor consisting of only the IL-2Rβ and γc13 to involve in IL-2 signalling. Importantly, IL-2 signalling has been strongly implicated in MS pathogenesis, which is a kind of organ-specific autoimmune disorders with significant heritability
