This product is a monoclonal antibody that recognizes α Gal. It binds to synthetic α-gal epitopes linked to BSA and to α-gal epitopes on glycolipid molecules from rabbit and bovine erythrocytes. It is cross-reactive in Rabbit, Bovine, Human. This antibody does not bind to α-gal epitopes on carbohydrate chains of natural glycoproteins. This antibody has been used to confirm that Galαl-3Gal glycosphingolipids are expressed at low levels by human erythrocytes. It can be used in applications such as ELISA.
