Full Name
Newcastle Disease Virus Fusion glycoprotein F2
Keywords
Newcastle Disease Virus Fusion glycoprotein F2; NDV Glycoprotein F2
Background
The F2 subunit is one of the two subunits (along with F1) that form the active Fusion (F) protein of Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV). The F protein is essential for viral entry into host cells. The F0 precursor protein is cleaved into F1 and F2 by host cell proteases. The F1 subunit contains the fusion peptide, while F2 remains linked to F1 via a disulfide bond and plays a role in the stability and proper presentation of the fusion peptide.
