Full Name
Glucosaminyl (N-acetyl) transferase 6
Keywords
bA421M1.3
Background
GCNT6 is a beta-1,3-galactosyl-O-glycosyl-glycoprotein beta-1,6-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase. It is involved in O-linked glycosylation, a post-translational modification crucial for the structure and function of many proteins. Specifically, it can glycosylate fibronectin peptide in vitro, suggesting a role in the synthesis of oncofetal fibronectin. Aberrant expression of GCNT6 can lead to altered glycosylation patterns in various proteins, influencing their stability, localization, and interactions.
