Maltose Binding Protein

The Maltose-Binding Protein (MBP) tag is a protein tag commonly used in molecular biology to enhance the solubility and expression of recombinant proteins in Escherichia coli. It consists of the E. coli MalE protein, which binds to maltose. When a target protein is genetically fused to the MBP tag, it often results in higher yields of soluble protein, preventing aggregation.
