It is specifically designed as a research tool for the selective elimination of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) from mixed cell populations. Its activation is dependent on phosphatase activity, which is typically high in hiPSCs, making it a conditional cytotoxic agent for in vitro cell purification.
