CEACAM3/CEACAM5

All products and services are For Research Use Only and CANNOT be used in the treatment or diagnosis of disease.

CEACAM3 and CEACAM5 are members of the family of carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecules (CEACAMs), which are used by several bacterial pathogens to bind and invade host cells. CEACAM3 directs phagocytosis of several bacterial species that is dependent on the small GTPase Rac. It is thought to serve an important role in controlling human-specific pathogens by the innate immune system. CEACAM5 is a cell surface glycoprotein that represents the founding member of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) family of proteins. CEACAM5 is used as a clinical biomarker for gastrointestinal cancers and may promote tumor development through its role as a cell adhesion molecule.
