TPM2

All products and services are For Research Use Only and CANNOT be used in the treatment or diagnosis of disease.

This gene encodes beta-tropomyosin, a member of the actin filament binding protein family, and mainly expressed in slow, type 1 muscle fibers. The protein binds to actin filaments in muscle and non-muscle cells and plays a central role, in association with the troponin complex, in the calcium dependent regulation of vertebrate striated muscle contraction. Diseases associated with TPM2 include Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita, Distal, Type 1 and Nemaline Myopathy 4, Autosomal Dominant. Among its related pathways are Striated Muscle Contraction and Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM).
