Complement C3b is a fragment formed by the cleavage of complement component 3, which is an important component of C3 convertase and C5 convertase. Also, C3b is potent in opsonization: tagging pathogens, immune complexes (antigen-antibody), and apoptotic cells for phagocytosis. |
