| Introduction | Complement component 9 is a protein involved in the complement system, which is part of the innate immune system. It is a member of the complement membrane attack complex (MAC) and induces pores on cell membranes, causing lysis. There are 10-16 molecules of C9 in a single membrane attack complex (MAC), along with one of each of the complement components C5b, C6, C7 and C8. |
