Information
Introduction |
Complement C3a is a 77 residue anaphylatoxin formed by the cleavage of complement component 3. C3a can bind to the C3a receptor induce responses. C3a is an effector of the complement system with a range of functions including T cell activation and survival, angiogenesis stimulation, chemotaxis, mast cell degranulation, and macrophage activation. C3a desArg is formed when the C-terminal arginine residue is cleaved off by serum carboxypeptidase B from C3a. C3a desArg binds to the C5L2 receptor inducing a lowered inflammatory function. |
