Introduction

Complement C3 convertase is a kind of serine protease that is usually composed of C3bBb in the alternative pathway and C4bC2b in the classical and lectin pathway of the complement system. C3 convertase usually functions by catalyzing the proteolytic cleavage of C3 into C3a and C3b. C3 convertase is a critical part of the complement system which eventuate in opsonisation of particles, release of inflammatory peptides, C5 convertase formation and cell lysis.
