The incidence of asthma continues to increase in all age groups. Chest radiography can be useful in acute asthma. Exhaled nitric oxide measurement is recommended if there is diagnostic uncertainty after lung function tests and assessments of reversible airflow obstruction have been made. As asthma often coexists with allergy, allergy testing can be performed to establish the presence of atopy and identify specific aeroallergens.
