Creative Biolabs is an undisputed leading provider of antibody development and generation services. Now, we provide in vitro diagnostic (IVD) antibody development services targeting various biomarkers of a wide variety of diseases. Especially, Creative Biolabs offers high-quality antibody development services for diagnostic applications targeting Coxsackie.

What is Coxsackie?

Coxsackie virus is a linear, positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus that belongs to the enteroviruses family, which are also referred to as picornaviruses. As the most common and important human pathogens, they are present all over the world by the fecal-oral route. About 90% of infections do not cause symptoms or present with a fever only. Studies have shown that types A and B are the most common two coxsackievirus serotypes that cause most of the clinically recognized syndromes. Type A viruses cause herpangina (sores in the throat), hand, foot, and mouth disease, and blisters on the tonsils and soft palate. However, group B virus causes infrequent, summer outbreaks of fever and spasms of the abdominal and chest muscles (pleurodynia).

Correlation of Coxsackie and Childhood

Coxsackie viruses are part of the enterovirus family of viruses that live in the human digestive tract. It can spread from person to person, usually on unwashed hands and surfaces contaminated by feces (poop), where they can live for several days. It has been reported that infants and young kids are particularly susceptible to symptomatic coxsackie. Generally, about half of all kids with an infection have no symptoms. Others suddenly get a high fever, headache, muscle aches, and some also develop a sore throat, abdominal discomfort, or nausea. A child with a coxsackievirus infection may simply feel hot but have no other symptoms. In most kids, the fever lasts about 3 days, then disappears.
