As a preeminent contract antibody development company, Creative Biolabs offers high-quality in vitro diagnostic (IVD) antibody development services targeting a wide range of biomarkers. Here, we introduce our IVD antibody development services for Hepatitis B virus (HBV). We are committed to providing the highest quality of custom services and products with the shortest time.

Introduction of HBV

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is an enveloped, hepatotropic, non-cytopathic virus which belongs to the virus family Hepadnaviridae, which includes eight well-known genotypes (A-H). As one of the major global public health problems and the most serious type of viral hepatitis, HBV infection can cause a variety of clinical outcomes, ranging from asymptomatic carrier state to acute hepatitis, fulminant hepatitis, chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis (LC) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Moreover, the progression of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) disease to severe liver diseases, such as LC and HCC, is related to the genetic characteristics of the host as well as viral and environmental factors.

Correlation of HBV and STDs

HBV is a classic STD in all populations. Studies have suggested that sexual contact and vertical transmission from mother to infant account for the large majority of HBV infections worldwide. Especially, sexual transmission of HBV among men who have sex with men (MSM) is more frequent because multiple partnerships are common and anal sex is inherently more traumatic than vaginal intercourse, fostering exposure to blood. Furthermore, numerous databases and studies have shown that high prevalences and incidences of HBV infection in persons seeking evaluation or treatment for STDs. Importantly, increasingly successful universal HBV vaccination of newborns and children will decrease the future incidence of HBV infection among people with specific risk factors, including sexual risks.
