As a leading antibody service provider in the world, Creative Biolabs is professional in the field of antibody discovery, engineering, and production for different applications. With advanced technology and extensive experience, now we are capable of providing high-quality in vitro diagnostic (IVD) antibody development services against HIV-1,2.

Introduction of HIV-1,2

The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a lenti virus (a subgroup of retrovirus) that causes HIV infection and over time acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). There are two types of HIV that are known to cause AIDS: HIV-1 and HIV-2. HIV-2 is more closely related to SIVMAC and has only limited genome and protein sequence identity with HIV-1. However, HIV-1 and HIV-2 share a similar genome organization, virion structure, and replication cycle. Moreover, there are also some differences between HIV-1 and HIV-2, such as epidemiology, pathogenicity, and sensitivity to antiretroviral therapy. Indeed, the rates of vertical and sexual transmission are lower for HIV-2 which is related to a lower viral load in blood and genital secretions. And the clinical course of HIV-2 infection is slower than that observed for HIV-1.

Correlation of HIV-1,2 and STDs

In recent years, more and more people have suffered the infection of HIV and have resulted in AIDS which progressive failure of the immune system allows life-threatening opportunistic infections and cancers to thrive. Despite downward trends in some countries, HIV incidence remains high across much of developing countries. In most cases, HIV is a sexually transmitted infection and occurs by contact with or transfer of blood, pre-ejaculate, semen, and vaginal fluids. Non-sexual transmission can occur from an infected mother to her infant through breast milk. Moreover, HIV-1 is more virulent and more infective than HIV-2 and accounts for the majority cause of HIV infections globally. And HIV-2 is mainly restricted in West Africa which dues to its relatively poor capacity for transmission.

IVD Antibody Development Services Targeting HIV-1, 2

During the past years, the development of IVD technology has been greatly improved to aid in the diagnosis of numerous diseases. High-quality IVD antibodies are required for the development of novel immunodiagnostic kits. With years of experience, Creative Biolabs can provide a full range of high-quality IVD antibody development services against HIV-1,2 to help our clients in the development of their novel diagnostic kits. Creative Biolabs offers one-stop solutions from antigen design to antibody pair screening. Besides, we also offer diagnostic immunoassay development services, including feasibility analysis, assay design, assay protocol establishment, assay optimization, and kit production.
