Creative Biolabs is a leading service provider that focuses on polyclonal, monoclonal, and recombinant antibody development for research, diagnosis, and potential therapeutics. Based on our extensive experience and state-of-the-art platforms, Creative Biolabs now offers a series of biomarker-specific IVD (in vitro diagnostic) antibody development services to clients globally. Especially, we introduce our IVD antibody development services for kallistatin marker.

Introduction of Kallistatin Marker

Kallistatin is a protein that encoded by the human SERPINA4 gene. It contains two important structural elements: an active site and a heparin-binding domain. Through these two distinct structural elements, kallistatin regulates the expression of multiple genes and controls the activation of several signaling pathways, including tissue kallikrein, heparan sulfate proteoglycans, the Wnt co-receptor LRP6, the transcription factor KLF4 and tyrosine kinase. Generally, kallistatin is mainly expressed in the liver, but it is also widely distributed in tissues relevant to cardiovascular function, including the heart, kidney and blood vessel. Moreover, the tissue kallikrein-kinin system is involved in beneficial effects against hypertension, and cardiac, cerebral and renal injury.

Kallistatin inhibits oxidative stress, inflammation and apoptosis through inhibiting TNF-α signaling and promotes NO production through eNOS stimulation Fig.1 Kallistatin inhibits oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis through inhibiting TNF-α signaling and promotes NO production through eNOS stimulation (Li J., 2016)

Kallistatin Marker of Liver Cirrhosis

Liver cirrhosis (LC), characterized by the histological development of regenerative nodules surrounded by fibrous bands, is the most frequent long-term consequence of all chronic liver diseases. Kallistatin, which protects organs and cells against inflammation, fibrosis and oxidative stress, is mainly synthesized and secreted in the liver. Studies have shown that serum kallistatin levels in patients with LC were significantly lower than those in healthy people which indicating a close correlation between the reduction in serum kallistatin levels and severity of the early hepatic disease. In this case, serum kallistatin levels could be used as a diagnostic indicator of human liver cirrhosis (LC).

IVD Antibody Development Services for Kallistatin Marker

Antibodies are core elements for antibody-based immunoassays for detecting and quantifying antigens of interest in all kinds of samples such as the serum, urine, tissue preparations, and so on. IVD antibodies are extensively used for disease screening, prognosis, and therapeutic monitoring. With our versatile IVD platform, Creative Biolabs is proud to develop novel anti-kallistatin antibody from scratch to commercial IVD kit (we can also start with provided antibody candidates).
