As a world-leading service provider of antibody development and generation, Creative Biolabs is ready to provide a whole series of biomarker-specific in vitro diagnostic (IVD) antibody development services. A team of experienced scientists focused on antibody development are pleased to assist you in your project in a timely and cost-effective manner. Here, we introduce our IVD antibody development services targeting L-Selectin marker.

L-Selectin

L-selectin is a cell adhesion molecule found on lymphocytes and the preimplantation embryo. It is a member of the selectin family of proteins, which recognize sialylated carbohydrate groups. L-selectin serves as a "homing receptor" for lymphocytes entering the secondary lymphoid tissue through the high endothelial venules. Ligands presented on endothelial cells will bind to lymphocytes expressing L-selectin, slow down lymphocytes trafficking through the blood, and facilitating entry into a secondary lymphoid organ at the time. The receptor is usually present on the cell surface of T cells. Naive T lymphocytes that have not encountered their specific antigens need to enter the secondary lymph nodes to encounter their antigens. Central memory T lymphocytes encounter antigens and express L-selectin to localize in secondary lymphoid organs. Here, they are ready to proliferate when they encounter the antigen again. Effector memory T-lymphocytes do not express L-selectin because they circulate peripherally and have immediate effector function when antigen is encountered.

L-Selectin Marker of Sepsis Infections

L-Selectin is an adhesion molecule that is shed from the surface of lymphocytes and granulocytes upon activation. Soluble L-selectin in the plasma can thus reflect immune activation and is elevated in several pathological states. Clinical studies have shown that during systemic inflammatory reactions, L-selectin is shed and detected at elevated levels in the plasma. It is found that the greatest survival was among septic adults that presented with the highest levels of sL-selectin, and similar findings were made in another study focused on children. In addition, in an in vitro fluid shear flow model, exogenously added sL-selectin inhibited leukocyte rolling and firm adhesion to the endothelium in a dose-dependent manner, presumably by competing with cell surface L-selectin for binding of endothelial ligands.
