Creative Biolabs is a leading provider of immune disease NHP models. Our scientists are highly professional in constructing various disease models including neurological disease, renal disease, cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, liver disease, urogenital disease, etc. In particular, integrated with multiple leading-edge technology platforms, we are now glad to offer high-quality NHP immune disease models to worldwide researchers.

What is immune system disease?

The immune system consists of a complex network including cells, tissues, and organs that work in concert to defend against harmful substances/stimulations. It assists human body to recognize these "foreign" invaders, to keep them out, or to locate and eliminate them. There will be very severe consequences if the immune system goes wrong. Immune system disorder can generally be classified into three categories, including:

  • Allergy and asthma
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Immune deficiency diseases

The advantages of non-human primates (NHPs) models

Animal models are valuable tools for studying the pathophysiology and pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics outcomes of medical treatments of many diseases. Non-human primates (NHPs) are particularly useful in regard to immune system disorders as well as immunomodulation reagents (like monoclonal antibodies) since they have a highly human immune system.

Typical immune disease models provided by Creative Biolabs

Allergic asthma is defined as a chronic disease of the lung airways. Allergic asthma model has been developed in rhesus or cynomolgus monkeys using human allergens, e.g. house dust mite and the birch pollen allergens, Bet V1 and V2. We offer well-characterized asthma NHP models according to customers' needs. We further provide a full set of endpoint measurements:

  • Total cell numbers and differential cell counts in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF)
  • Total and OVA-specific IgE levels in serum
  • IL-4, IL-5 and IL-13 levels in BALF and lung tissue (ELISA)
  • IL-4, IL-5 and IL-13 transcription levels in lung tissue (qRT-PCR)
  • Lung function test
  • Histopathology analysis of infiltration

Allergic rhinitis is a type of inflammation in the nose that often occurs after contact with allergens in the air. Allergic responses or actions can vary to different allergens, adjuvants, dosage, and sensitization duration. Our company is professional in establishing allergic rhinitis NHP model via many approaches. Available QC measurements include:

  • Eosinophil infiltration in nasal mucosa
  • Serum level of allergen-specific IgE measured by solid-phase enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
  • Th2 cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, IL-13) and Th1 cytokines (IFN-γ, IL-12) levels measured by ELISA from the centrifuged serum and nasal lavage

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common type of autoimmune disorder that causes chronic joint inflammation. We have experience in using type II collagen to induce rheumatoid arthritis in cynomolgus monkeys. We also offer a variety of different parameters for further validations, including:

  • Body weight
  • Primary endpoints for evaluating arthritis
  • Disease incidence
  • Arthritic incidence of proximal interphalangeal joints
  • Measurement of joint swelling
  • Arthritic score
