With the most advanced experiment apparatus, a professional R&D team, and a stringent Q&C system, Creative Biolabs is a professional CRO company with extensive experience in the preclinical stage of drug development. We provide many kinds of well-established NHP disease models involving multiple system diseases for our global clients to meet their different research requirements.

What is PAD?

PAD is characterized by the blocking of the arteries in the lower extremities, failing to transport enough blood or oxygen from the heart to other parts of the body. As a common arterial disease in the elderly, PAD often causes discomfort or pain when walking. Smoking and diabetes can greatly increase the risk of PAD. Clinical evidence shows that the arterial lumen becomes narrow or even completely occluded in PAD patients with reduced blood flow. PAD may not show obvious symptoms but requires timely treatment since it can easily induce heart disease and stroke.

Preclinical Tools for PAD Research

Animal disease models are important tools for understanding disease pathogenesis and progression and evaluating the efficacy of potential therapies. The commonly used PAD models are the bilateral laurate-induced PAD model and femoral artery ligation model in rats. The classical laurate-induced PAD model has been used to evaluate anti-thrombotic agents. In addition, there are currently emerging computer simulations, mathematical models, or in vitro models combined with in vivo models to reduce the number of animals required for experimental research.

What Services Do We Provide?

It is known that NHPs are the experimental animals closest to humans in terms of anatomy, genetics, physiology, and biochemistry. Although NHPs are larger and more expensive than rodents, their advantages as preclinical disease models make them an optimal choice for more and more researchers. To better advance PAD research and promote the development of potential drugs, Creative Biolabs provides the well-established NHP model of PAD. Readouts including blood flow and multiple imaging methodologies such as ultrasound imaging, positron emission tomography (PET), and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) enable the validation of models as well as efficacy evaluation of drug candidates. Also, biomarkers of interest can be analyzed by immunoblot analysis, FACS, histopathological analysis, real-time PCR, Western Blotting, and ELISA, which allows a better understanding of drug actions in vivo.

If you are interested in the NHP model of PAD or have any questions about this model, please feel free to contact us for more information. The scientists of Creative Biolabs will work closely with you and assist you in your preclinical research. We are your trustworthy CRO partner.
