1,2-Dilauroyl-sn-glycerol is a diacylglycerol (DAG) featuring saturated lauroyl (12:0) fatty acid chains at the sn-1 and sn-2 positions. DAGs are integral to phospholipid metabolism and serve as a substrate for diacylglycerol kinase. These 1,2-diacylglycerols are produced within cells primarily through the hydrolysis of the membrane phospholipid phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)P2), a reaction catalyzed by phospholipase C (PLC).
