Specifications
Description
SLPEth (1-Stearoyl-2-linoleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanol) is an identifiable molecular form within the Phosphatidylethanol (PEth) group. This class of phospholipids is generated enzymatically by Phospholipase D (PLD) when ethanol (EtOH) is present, using Phosphatidylcholine (PC) as a substrate. SLPEth, like other PEth species, embeds into erythrocyte membranes and has a significantly prolonged half-life, which establishes it as an extremely valuable direct alcohol biomarker for documenting chronic ethanol intake. SLPEth is one of the five most prevalent PEth species found in biological samples.
