Specifications
Description
This is a biotin-conjugated form of phosphatidylinositol 3,4-bisphosphate (PI(3,4)P2), an important, low-level signaling lipid. PI(3,4)P2 is produced in cells in response to external signals, typically via the actions of phosphoinositide 3-kinases (PI3Ks) or specific phosphatases. Its primary function is to serve as a high-affinity membrane docking site for signaling proteins containing pleckstrin homology (PH) domains, notably the protein kinase AKT/PKB, which is crucial for mediating anti-apoptotic and pro-survival signals.
