A synthetic, short-chain (diC8) analog of the plasma membrane phosphoinositide, Phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)P2), incorporating a fluorovinylphosphate moiety. PI(4,5)P2 is a critical lipid messenger that controls numerous processes, including membrane excitability and cytoskeletal organization.
