Specifications
Description
1,2-Dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DMPE) is a PE derivative containing fourteen-carbon (14:0) myristic acid acyl chains. Phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), a major phospholipid, is predominantly synthesized through the enzymatic reaction between CDP-ethanolamine and diacylglycerol. PE is an essential structural constituent of cell membranes in numerous organisms, including bacteria and the mammalian nervous system. DMPE is a useful component for the manufacturing of liposomes, where its specific chain length and phase transition behavior contribute to the properties of the lipid bilayer.
