The C1GALT1 knockout HepG2 cell line offers a unique platform for exploring O-glycosylation (Core 1) in liver cancer and its interaction with the hepatic environment. C1GALT1 deficiency impedes Core 1 O-glycan synthesis in HepG2 cells, potentially altering the glycosylation of mucin-like proteins expressed by liver cells. Researchers can analyze the effects of altered O-glycosylation on the tumor microenvironment in the liver, metastasis within the liver, and identify O-glycosylation targets or drugs specific to liver malignancies.

Product Disclaimer
This product is provided for research only, not suitable for human or animal use. Due to the inherent limitations of infectious agent testing, investigators must exercise extreme caution when handling cells provided by Creative Biolabs, treating all cells as potentially biohazardous.
Synthesizes core 1 O-glycan (Gal-beta-1-3GalNAc-R) via Gal transfer (UDP-Gal to GalNAc-alpha-1-R); precursor for mucin-type O-glycans (cell surface & secreted) involved in cell signaling and interactions.
