GlycoErase™ GCG Knockout CHO-K1 Cell Line (CAT#: GLJF-0825-JF283)

Datasheet
SizeQtyAdd To Basket
1 M cells/vial*2

Description GlycoErase™ GCG knockout CHO-K1 cell line is a CHO-K1 model lacking GCG expression. GCG encodes a preproprotein processed into glucagon, which stimulates glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis, and gut-derived peptides that promote nutrient absorption. The knockout of GCG in CHO-K1 provides a platform for investigating hormone-regulated glucose metabolism, pancreatic hormone signaling, and gut-endocrine cross-talk, with applications in diabetes research, metabolic disease modeling, and hormone-based therapeutics.

Handling Notes Upon receipt, this product must be immediately transferred from dry ice to liquid nitrogen (-150°C to -190°C) and stored in a liquid nitrogen tank. Cell viability is critically dependent on proper handling. We cannot guarantee viability if these instructions are not strictly adhered to.
Product Disclaimer This product is provided for research only, not suitable for human or animal use. Due to the inherent limitations of infectious agent testing, investigators must exercise extreme caution when handling cells provided by Creative Biolabs, treating all cells as potentially biohazardous.
Target GCG
Full Name Glucagon
Alternative Name GLP1; GLP2; GRPP; GLP-1
Location 2q24.2
Gene ID 2641
Summary The protein encoded by this gene is actually a preproprotein that is cleaved into four distinct mature peptides. One of these, glucagon, is a pancreatic hormone that counteracts the glucose-lowering action of insulin by stimulating glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis. Glucagon is a ligand for a specific G-protein linked receptor whose signalling pathway controls cell proliferation. Two of the other peptides are secreted from gut endocrine cells and promote nutrient absorption through distinct mechanisms. Finally, the fourth peptide is similar to glicentin, an active enteroglucagon.
