GlycoErase™ GCG Knockout HepG2 Cell Line (CAT#: GLJF-0825-JF631)

Datasheet
SizeQtyAdd To Basket
1 M cells/vial*2

Description GlycoErase™ GCG knockout HepG2 cell line is deficient in GCG, encoding preproglucagon, processed into glucagon and gut-derived peptides. Glucagon stimulates hepatic glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis, while other peptides regulate nutrient absorption. This knockout provides a human liver model to investigate hormone-driven glucose metabolism, pancreatic-hepatic signaling, and endocrine crosstalk, with applications in diabetes and hormone-based therapies.

Handling Notes Upon receipt, this product must be immediately transferred from dry ice to liquid nitrogen (-150°C to -190°C) and stored in a liquid nitrogen tank. Cell viability is critically dependent on proper handling. We cannot guarantee viability if these instructions are not strictly adhered to.
Product Disclaimer This product is provided for research only, not suitable for human or animal use. Due to the inherent limitations of infectious agent testing, investigators must exercise extreme caution when handling cells provided by Creative Biolabs, treating all cells as potentially biohazardous.
Target GCG
Full Name Glucagon
Alternative Name GLP1; GLP2; GRPP; GLP-1
Location 2q24.2
Gene ID 2641
Summary The preproprotein encoded by this gene yields four mature peptides, including glucagon, which counteracts insulin by stimulating glycogen breakdown and gluconeogenesis. Other peptides regulate nutrient absorption and resemble glicentin.
