GlycoErase™ GCK Knockout HEK293 Cell Line (CAT#: GLJF-0825-JF400)

Datasheet
SizeQtyAdd To Basket
1 M cells/vial*2

Description GlycoErase™ GCK knockout HEK293 cell line is a human embryonic kidney (HEK293) model in which GCK expression has been eliminated. GCK encodes glucokinase, a specialized hexokinase critical for glucose-stimulated insulin secretion in pancreatic beta cells and glucose utilization in the liver. Mutations are associated with both diabetes and hypoglycemia. The knockout of GCK in the HEK293 background offers a functional human model for investigating glucose sensing, beta-cell signaling, and hepatic glucose metabolism, supporting diabetes research, metabolic disorder modeling, and small-molecule drug discovery.

Handling Notes Upon receipt, this product must be immediately transferred from dry ice to liquid nitrogen (-150°C to -190°C) and stored in a liquid nitrogen tank. Cell viability is critically dependent on proper handling. We cannot guarantee viability if these instructions are not strictly adhered to.
Product Disclaimer This product is provided for research only, not suitable for human or animal use. Due to the inherent limitations of infectious agent testing, investigators must exercise extreme caution when handling cells provided by Creative Biolabs, treating all cells as potentially biohazardous.
Target GCK
Full Name Glucokinase
Alternative Name GK; GLK; HK4; HHF3; HKIV; HXKP; LGLK; MODY2; PNDM1; FGQTL3
Location 7p13
Gene ID 2645
Summary This gene encodes a hexokinase that phosphorylates glucose to glucose-6-phosphate, initiating glucose metabolism. Unlike other hexokinases, this enzyme is not inhibited by its product, glucose-6-phosphate. It is expressed in the pancreas and liver, playing key roles in insulin secretion and glucose uptake. Mutations are associated with diabetes and hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia.
