GlycoErase™ GCK Knockout HEK293T Cell Line (CAT#: GLJF-0825-JF516)

Datasheet
SizeQtyAdd To Basket
1 M cells/vial*2

Description GlycoErase™ GCK knockout HEK293T cell line is a HEK293T model lacking GCK expression. GCK encodes glucokinase, a glucose sensor in pancreatic β-cells and a regulator of hepatic glucose utilization. Mutations are linked to maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) and hypoglycemia. This knockout provides a human cellular context to study glucose sensing, β-cell signaling mimicry, and therapeutic strategies for glucose homeostasis disorders.

Handling Notes Upon receipt, this product must be immediately transferred from dry ice to liquid nitrogen (-150°C to -190°C) and stored in a liquid nitrogen tank. Cell viability is critically dependent on proper handling. We cannot guarantee viability if these instructions are not strictly adhered to.
Product Disclaimer This product is provided for research only, not suitable for human or animal use. Due to the inherent limitations of infectious agent testing, investigators must exercise extreme caution when handling cells provided by Creative Biolabs, treating all cells as potentially biohazardous.
Target GCK
Full Name Glucokinase
Alternative Name GK; GLK; HK4; HHF3; HKIV; HXKP; LGLK; MODY2; PNDM1; FGQTL3
Location 7p13
Gene ID 2645
Summary This gene encodes a hexokinase that phosphorylates glucose to glucose-6-phosphate, a key step in glucose metabolism. Unlike other hexokinases, this enzyme is not inhibited by glucose-6-phosphate. It plays a role in insulin secretion in the pancreas and glucose uptake in the liver. Mutations are linked to diabetes and hypoglycemia.
