GlycoErase™ GPI Knockout CHO-K1 Cell Line (CAT#: GLJF-0825-JF287)

Datasheet

1 M cells/vial*2

Description GlycoErase™ GPI knockout CHO-K1 cell line is a Chinese hamster ovary (CHO-K1) model in which GPI expression has been eliminated. GPI encodes glucose phosphate isomerase, a multifunctional "moonlighting" protein that functions as a glycolytic enzyme intracellularly, and extracellularly acts as neuroleukin, autocrine motility factor, and angiogenic factor. Deficiency is linked to hemolytic anemia and neurological impairment. This knockout model provides a versatile system to study glycolysis, tumor-secreted factors, neurotrophic signaling, and immune regulation, with applications in oncology, neurobiology, and metabolic disease research.

Handling Notes Upon receipt, this product must be immediately transferred from dry ice to liquid nitrogen (-150°C to -190°C) and stored in a liquid nitrogen tank. Cell viability is critically dependent on proper handling. We cannot guarantee viability if these instructions are not strictly adhered to.
Product Disclaimer This product is provided for research only, not suitable for human or animal use. Due to the inherent limitations of infectious agent testing, investigators must exercise extreme caution when handling cells provided by Creative Biolabs, treating all cells as potentially biohazardous.
Target GPI
Full Name Glucose-6-Phosphate Isomerase
Alternative Name AMF; NLK; PGI; PHI; GNPI; SA36; SA-36; CNSHA4
Location 19q13.11
Gene ID 2821
Summary This gene encodes a member of the glucose phosphate isomerase protein family. The encoded protein has been identified as a moonlighting protein based on its ability to perform mechanistically distinct functions. In the cytoplasm, the gene product functions as a glycolytic enzyme (glucose-6-phosphate isomerase) that interconverts glucose-6-phosphate and fructose-6-phosphate. Extracellularly, the encoded protein (also referred to as neuroleukin) functions as a neurotrophic factor that promotes survival of skeletal motor neurons and sensory neurons, and as a lymphokine that induces immunoglobulin secretion. The encoded protein is also referred to as autocrine motility factor based on an additional function as a tumor-secreted cytokine and angiogenic factor. Defects in this gene are the cause of nonspherocytic hemolytic anemia and a severe enzyme deficiency can be associated with hydrops fetalis, immediate neonatal death and neurological impairment. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
