GlycoErase™ PRDM8 Knockout CHO-K1 Cell Line (CAT#: GLJF-0825-JF353)

Datasheet

1 M cells/vial*2

Description GlycoErase™ PRDM8 knockout CHO-K1 cell line is a CHO-K1 model lacking PRDM8, a SET-domain histone methyltransferase that represses transcription and interfaces with laforin/malin complexes linked to glycogen regulation. The knockout supports epigenetic mechanism studies, neuronal pathway modeling in vitro, and exploration of chromatin-glycogen metabolism connections for translational research.

Handling Notes Upon receipt, this product must be immediately transferred from dry ice to liquid nitrogen (-150°C to -190°C) and stored in a liquid nitrogen tank. Cell viability is critically dependent on proper handling. We cannot guarantee viability if these instructions are not strictly adhered to.
Product Disclaimer This product is provided for research only, not suitable for human or animal use. Due to the inherent limitations of infectious agent testing, investigators must exercise extreme caution when handling cells provided by Creative Biolabs, treating all cells as potentially biohazardous.
Target PRDM8
Full Name Pr/Set Domain 8
Alternative Name PFM5; EPM10; KMT8D
Location 4q21.21
Gene ID 56978
Summary This gene encodes a protein that belongs to a conserved family of histone methyltransferases that predominantly act as negative regulators of transcription. The encoded protein contains an N-terminal Su(var)3-9, Enhancer-of-zeste, and Trithorax (SET) domain and a double zinc-finger domain. Knockout of this gene in mouse results in mistargeting by neurons of the dorsal telencephalon, abnormal itch-like behavior, and impaired differentiation of rod bipolar cells. In humans, the protein has been shown to interact with the phosphatase laforin and the ubiquitin ligase malin, which regulate glycogen construction in the cytoplasm. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
