| Description | GlycoFlux™ human GYG2 overexpression CHO-K1 cell line is a stable glycoengineered line that constitutively overexpresses glycogenin-2 (GYG2), a liver-biased glycogen primer distinct from muscle GYG1. Use it to compare tissue-isoform control of glycogen initiation, probe effects on ER/Golgi donor-sugar pools and secretory glycoprotein quality, and assess sequence designs that modulate primer efficiency and glycan outcomes. |

| Handling Notes | Upon receipt, this product must be immediately transferred from dry ice to liquid nitrogen (-150°C to -190°C) and stored in a liquid nitrogen tank. Cell viability is critically dependent on proper handling. We cannot guarantee viability if these instructions are not strictly adhered to. |
| Product Disclaimer | This product is provided for research only, not suitable for human or animal use. Due to the inherent limitations of infectious agent testing, investigators must exercise extreme caution when handling cells provided by Creative Biolabs, treating all cells as potentially biohazardous. |
| Target | GYG2 |
| Full Name | Glycogenin 2 |
| Alternative Name | GN2; GN-2 |
| Location | Xp22.33 |
| Gene ID | 8908 |
| Summary | This gene encodes a member of the the glycogenin family. Glycogenin is a self-glucosylating protein involved in the initiation reactions of glycogen biosynthesis. A gene on chromosome 3 encodes the muscle glycogenin and this X-linked gene encodes the glycogenin mainly present in liver; both are involved in blood glucose homeostasis. This gene has a short version on chromosome Y, which is 3' truncated and can not make a functional protein. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. |
