| Full Name | Phosphorylase Kinase Regulatory Subunit Beta |
| Location | 16q12.1 |
| Gene ID | 5257 |
| Summary | Phosphorylase kinase is a 16-subunit enzyme containing alpha, beta, gamma, and delta subunits. The alpha subunit encodes muscle and liver isoforms via separate genes. The beta subunit, encoded by this gene, is the same in both forms. The gamma subunit contains the catalytic site, and the delta subunit (a calmodulin) controls calcium sensitivity. Mutations cause glycogen storage disease type 9B, affecting liver and muscle. Pseudogenes are found on chromosomes 14 and 20. |
