GlycoFlux™ Human POMC Overexpression HepG2 Cell Line

CAT#: GLJF-0925-JF672

Datasheet Request COA
Overview
Description
GlycoFlux™ human POMC overexpression HepG2 cell line is a stable glycoengineered line that constitutively overexpresses pro-opiomelanocortin, a prohormone processed into multiple bioactive peptides. In hepatocytes, it serves as a tractable secretory-cargo probe to test how glycan environment, propeptide trafficking, and convertase access influence peptide maturation, secretion efficiency, and receptor-pathway cross-talk.

Summary
The gene product is a large precursor that undergoes selective cleavage depending on tissue type, yielding up to ten active peptides. These include ACTH and beta-lipotropin in the pituitary, and other peptides in different tissues that affect pigmentation, pain modulation, metabolism, and immune response. Mutations associate with obesity, adrenal insufficiency, and red hair.
