Specifications
Description
MPEG-DSPE is a biocompatible amphiphilic conjugate consisting of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) tethered to the phospholipid 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DSPE). The PEG moiety is terminally blocked with a methoxy group (MPEG). This molecule is the primary constituent used to create "stealth" liposomes and LNPs. The hydrophilic PEG brush border enhances the stability of the lipid bilayer, prevents opsonization, and dramatically prolongs the circulation time of the nanocarriers in the bloodstream, which is critical for systemic drug delivery applications.
