Phosphatidylinositol 3,5-bisphosphate (PtdIns(3,5)P2) DiC8 is a synthetic, short-chain (dioctanoyl) analog of this low-abundance phosphoinositide signaling molecule. Like its endogenous counterpart, PtdIns(3,5)P2 diC8 is essential for regulating retrograde membrane traffic from late endosomal and lysosomal compartments back to the Golgi and is also involved in the process of autophagy.
