PI(3)P diC8, a synthetic and purified dioctanoyl PI(3)P, is a member of the phosphoinositide (PIPns) group of lipids, which are small components of cellular membranes but function as crucial signaling mediators. Phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate is abundant in early endosomes, playing roles in endosome fusion, receptor sorting, and internalization within multivesicular bodies. It has also been located at the plasma membrane and is linked to the translocation of the GLUT4 glucose transport protein.
