Specifications
Description
1-Palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (POPC) is a prominent phospholipid, featuring C16:0 and C18:1 acyl chains. It is widely used to fabricate liposomes, which are essential tools for investigating the behavior of lipid bilayers, membrane permeability, and other fundamental biophysical characteristics of cell membranes. Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is the most abundant structural lipid in animal membranes, concentrated in the outer leaflet, where it also serves a signaling role by acting as the substrate for phospholipase D enzymes that produce phosphatidic acid and lysophosphatidic acid.
