Assay Name
In Vitro RNA Expression Analysis Assay (Northern Blooting)
Short Description
C2BBe1-cell based In Vitro RNA Expression Analysis Assay (Northern Blooting)
Assay Description
Northern blotting is a conventional method used to analyze RNA levels. In northern blotting, mRNA isolated from cells or tissues are quantified by gel electrophoresis and transferred to membranes and incubated with suitable probes. The probes are normally labeled with chemiluminescent substrates or radioactive isotopes. Bound RNA-probe complexes are visualized on X-ray films.
Assay Type
Gene and Protein Expression Assays
Assay Type Details
Following transcription, primary transcript RNA is converted into mature RNA by post-transcriptional modifications. Post-transcriptional modification includes three major steps namely the addition of a 5'cap, addition of a 3'polyadenylation tail and RNA splicing. Stability of RNA has been considered as very important for gene expression and proteins at the post-transcriptional level.
