CAT#: ITS-1022-YF5927
Target Cell Organism: Human
Target Cell Name: HCT-116
Assay Type: Cellular Senescence in Cancer Assays
Assay Overview
This assay is to provide HCT-116-based In Vitro TRAP Assay (Senescence) to accelerate our client's oncology projects. The assay will be customized according to the specific requirements. Please contact our scientists to discuss more details.
Target Cell Name
HCT-116
Target Cell Organism
Human
Target Cell Background
HCT 116 cell line was isolated from the colon of an adult male with colon cancer. It has a mutation in codon 13 of the ras proto-oncogene and can be used as a positive control for PCR assays of mutation in this codon.

Short Description
HCT-116-cell based In Vitro TRAP Assay (Senescence)
Assay Description
The telomerase repeated amplification protocol (TRAP) assay is one of the common PCR-based assays used to detect telomerase activity in cells.
Assay Alternative Names

Assay Type
Cellular Senescence in Cancer Assays
Assay Type Details
Cell senescence is described as an irreversible physiological event of cell growth arrest, which is known to be caused by alterations of telomeres, oxidative stress, DNA damage and some oncogenes. Inhibition of the program of senescence is one of the main features of tumor cells and it has been reported that cancer cells can be induced to undergo senescence by chemo- and radiotherapies and genetic alterations. Telomeres help to prevent uncontrolled cell proliferation and the absence of telomeres results in aneuploidy and cell death.
