Short Description
Creative Biolabs offers Human CD14+ Monocytes, Cord Blood for immunity reaserch.
Description
Human CD14+ monocytes from cord blood are a type of immune cell that is derived from stem cells in the umbilical cord blood of newborn babies. These monocytes are important for the immune response and play a role in the body's defense against infections and other foreign invaders. They express the CD14 protein on their cell surface, which is a marker for monocytes. These cells can differentiate into macrophages and dendritic cells, which are also important components of the immune system.
Background
Monocytes are a type of white blood cell (leukocytes) that reside in your blood and tissues to find and destroy germs (viruses, bacteria, fungi and protozoa) and eliminate infected cells. They are produced in the bone marrow and then enter the blood, where they account for about 1 to 10% of the circulating white blood cells. They are the largest type of leukocyte and can differentiate into macrophages and conventional dendritic cells.
