CD45 is a transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on all hematopoietic cells except erythrocytes and platelets. It functions as a tyrosine phosphatase, regulating cellular processes like growth, differentiation, and cell cycle progression. CD45 is also a key negative marker for identifying human mesenchymal stem cells, used in isolation alongside positive markers like CD29 and CD44.
