Description
eEF1A2, an isoform of eukaryotic elongation factor 1 alpha (eEF1A), shares over 90% sequence identity with eEF1A1. Besides its role in protein synthesis, eEF1A2 is involved in regulating the cell cycle, heat-shock response, aging, and posttranslational modifications. eEF1A2 is mainly expressed in tissues like the heart, brain, diaphragm, and skeletal muscle. It also promotes phospholipid signaling, Akt-dependent cell migration, and actin remodeling, which may drive tumorigenesis. eEF1A2 is linked to several cancers, including ovarian, prostate, pancreatic, breast, and lung cancers.
