Description
Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) plays a central role in glycolysis and is involved in key nuclear functions such as transcription, RNA binding, and DNA repair. It is expressed in most tissues and is regarded as a housekeeping protein. Under certain conditions, such as post-translational modifications like S-nitrosylation, GAPDH can relocate to the nucleus. Its expression can increase under stress conditions like hypoxia or diabetes.
