HSPB1, also known as heat shock protein 27 (Hsp27), is a small heat shock protein family member induced by environmental stress or developmental changes. It acts as an anti-apoptotic protein and plays critical roles in tumorigenesis and cell survival. HSPB1 is considered an independent prognostic marker for cancer and is a valuable marker for melanoma.
