Short Description
This complete IHC kit for Lamin A/C offers a direct approach to staining, equipping users with reagents from antigen retrieval to slide mounting.
Description
Lamin A/C (LMNA, LMN1) is part of the lamin protein family, which forms the nuclear matrix and is highly conserved across evolution. During mitosis, lamin proteins are phosphorylated, leading to the disassembly of the nuclear lamina. They are involved in nuclear stability, chromatin structure, and gene expression. Lack of lamin A/C is a novel marker for undifferentiated embryonic stem cells, and its expression is an early indicator of differentiation. Mutations in LMNA lead to diseases such as Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy, familial partial lipodystrophy, limb-girdle muscular dystrophy, dilated cardiomyopathy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, and Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome.
